REEETrack

REEETrack™ is a new PTFE recycling technique being developed and pioneered by Trackwise (Re-Cycled PTFE Patent Application WO 2006/056778) which saves waste and cost by allowing laminate to be reclaimed and reused. In the future customers will be invited to send their end-of-life antennas to our laboratories, where the PCB is separated and ground into dust before being made into fresh laminate.

This new-for-old service is designed to meet the new EC WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) Directive, which covers the design and production of electrical and electronic equipment. The aim is to aid repair, upgrading, re-use, disassembly and recycling at end-of-life.

The service will be of significant benefit to laminate and PCB manufacturers, who generate considerable amounts of waste. At present, even with the most efficient PCB manufacturing processes, between 10% and 25% of the raw laminate goes to landfill.

The costly laminate used in microwave boards, based on a precisely-balanced PTFE and glass-fibre matrix, is not normally recyclable. Trackwise has found a way of preserving the balance to a high degree of precision, yielding a high-value product instead of the usual relatively crude material, which is useful only for low-grade applications such as filler.

As an ISO 14001 company Trackwise is obliged to improve its environmental management continuously. Customers will benefit, as it will help them to fulfill their obligation to recycle obsolete equipment.
