Manufacturing agreement signed with EV OEM

EV battery pack

Trackwise Designs, the printed circuit technology specialist based in Tewkesbury, has signed a three-year Improved Harness Technology™-enabled (IHT) manufacture and supply agreement with a UK manufacturer of electric vehicles. The agreement has the potential to be worth up to £5 million in 2021, and with the expectation of growth in 2022 and 2023.

The Agreement is for the supply of Trackwise’s IHT flexible printed circuit boards for use in high and low voltage circuits in the manufacturer’s vehicle battery modules and battery packs. The use of IHT not only reduces part count and assembly time leading to increased efficiencies during  build processes.  It also saves space and weight in the final product resulting in environmental savings through reduction in emissions.

Lighter, smaller and more functional

In line with its growth strategy, Trackwise will continue to explore ways in which it can further broaden and deepen this relationship.  It will also look to build the pipeline of opportunities for IHT elsewhere in the electric vehicle space and in industries where demand is growing for lighter, smaller and more functional connectivity such as medical and civil aviation.

Philip Johnston, CEO of Trackwise, commented:

“This is a very significant commercial milestone for Trackwise. Our customer is at the forefront of driving the adoption of sustainable technologies and the selection of Trackwise to help power its vehicles at scale is a fantastic endorsement of our technology.

“With our manufacturing capacity and capability recently improved, we look forward to continuing to support our customer as it looks to build out its transportation ecosystem in the coming years.

“At the same time, the number of opportunities for the application of IHT elsewhere in the electric vehicle industry and across our other target markets continues to grow at a healthy rate. We look forward to updating shareholders with further progress in due course.”
